Content Management Systems (CMS) like "Joomla", "Mambo", "Drupal", "Light and Easy", & "CMS Made Simple" allow you to  maintain your own content.Content simply refers to the pictures, photos, videos, and information that you can find on on a website.

What I do is create the structure of the website, or template of the website (so you do not have to). This structure will stay the same, and you will not be able to change it (without technical knowledge). Once it is created, you can login, using only your web browser, and add your content to the different areas of the website. This typically includes the items mentioned above, on all of your web pages, including navigation(menus), slideshows, side or index areas, footers, banner areas, etc. Each website design is different, however, so what one can change/update may change from website to website.
